We can help you with

Project Management

We manage complex web projects from initial strategy through to delivery, creating high-quality products and forging high-performing teams. Our approach focuses on delivering outstanding user experiences through effective leadership and management of design, editorial, and technical development.

We have over 15 year’s real-world experience delivering complex web projects for organisations large and small. We are experts in digital information and content projects, especially for the higher education, healthcare and pharmaceutical, technology, startup and business support sectors. We haven't done an exact count, but we must have delivered well over 100 web projects for scores of clients.

We can work with in-house teams or collections of contractors and freelancers, whether based on-site or remotely, or oversee and co-ordinate the work of external agencies and suppliers. We emphasise the goal – a high-quality product, a high-performing team, a consistent user experience – over process and methodology. So while we build on agile project management frameworks such as scrum, kanban and lean we remain flexible and adaptable in order to get the best out of your team and deliver outstanding results for your project.

User Experience and User-Interface Design

User experience consulting sets the vision and direction for your web project. Defining and delivering the right user experience, which reconciles user expectations with organisational objectives, is the foundation of our approach to web project management.

We define interactive products and services through wireframing, sketching and prototyping. We can take this from initial rough sketches through to fully functional interactive prototypes and high-fidelity user-interface (UI) designs. We use low-fidelity hands-on prototypes to help you rapidly explore potential user flows, interaction models, and interface designs, documenting the results in simple walkthroughs and video demos. These are often developed through design workshops which encourage the whole team to experiment and explore potential design solutions.

We can help you with

  • “Design studio” and co-creation workshops
  • User experience modelling
  • User-interface design
  • Early-stage wireframes and paper prototyping
  • Low-fidelity prototypes
  • High-fidelity functional prototypes
  • Video walkthroughs and demos

Content Strategy & Information Architecture

Content strategy plans for the creation, publication, and governance of useful, usable digital content. Content strategy defines not only which content will be published, but more importantly why you are publishing it in the first place. Information architecture works out how to organise, categorise and structure that content so that it can be easily found, reused and distributed.

Both are essential to delivering a consistent, high-quality user experience of your web and mobile applications.

We can help you with

  • Defining content and editorial requirements
  • Information architecture
  • Content modelling
  • Taxonomies
  • Editorial strategy
  • Content planning
  • Content governance and editorial workflow

We can also provide copywriting, editing and proof-reading services through partners and sub-contractors.

Workshops, conferences and hack days

We run both commercial  and non-commercial design and development events, including conferences, workshops, design jams and hackdays (‘hackathons’).

We co-ordinate the acclaimed Digpen grassroots community and conferences for designers and developers in the South West, and support other regional industry events and meetups.

Hack days and design jams help organisations explore solutions to specific business, customer or user problems. They bring together designers, developers and subject-matter experts to brainstorm and rapidly prototype ideas. Hack days are ideal for testing APIs and cloud-based open data services, creating proofs of concept around data sets prior to more substantial API development, and building a developer community around your data feeds and services.
